Did this today with disillusioned A2 group. It's a mixture of Richard and Judy's 'You say we pay' and never mind the buzzcocks final round. Get a range of concepts/theories/studies of what you've been teaching (we've just done explanations for the appeal of NRMs and their development) and write each on a bit of A3 paper (or do it on powerpoint or whatever). Divide the class into 2/3/4 teams and get 1 representative of each to come out to the front and sit in a chair facing the whole group. Stand behind those sitting at the front an reveal your concept to the rest of the group. Mayhem them ensues as the members of each group shout out clues to their rep about the concept etc you're holding up. The first one to correctly identify the concept etc wins the point. Went really well , but rest of lesson was rubbish because its probably a better plenary thing than a starter ! Also, you need good hearing beacuse the sense of injustice in awarding the wrong point is immense.

You showed us this idea at University late last year and i have to say it was fun. I am planning on using this idea in a first year degree session, once main theories of sociology have been established.
Great idea thanks.
